Objective: The present research was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of correcting girls' cognitive bias towards physical appearance on their desire for cosmetic surgery and self-esteem. Method: The research method in this study is semi-experimental and using a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included the female students of the non-profit Foulad University of Technology in the academic year 1401, of which 200 were selected using the purposeful sampling method and completed the body image questionnaire. Then, 45 students whose questionnaire scores were above the average were selected and placed in two experimental groups (22 people) and control (23 people) using the random assignment method. The research tools were: Cooper Smith's Self-Esteem Questionnaire, Cosmetic Surgery Tendency Questionnaire, Probe Dot Test. First, a pre-test was taken from both groups, and then 10 sessions of 30 to 40 minutes were held individually for the experimental group (8 sessions to correct cognitive bias and 2 sessions to measure bias and fill in questionnaires). During this time, the control group did not receive any training. After completing the training, a post-test was taken from both groups and the collected data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The findings showed that correcting cognitive bias towards physical appearance reduces cognitive bias towards physical appearance (P<0.01) and decreases desire for cosmetic surgery in student girls (P<0.01); But the effect of correcting cognitive bias towards physical appearance on self-esteem was not observed (P<0.01). Conclusion: Cognitive bias correction can be used as an effective method. Although the current research is limited in generalizability due to the use of a single-sex sample and targeted sampling, the clear findings based on the effect of cognitive bias correction on reducing cognitive bias towards physical appearance and also reducing the desire for cosmetic surgery. It opens a new perspective regarding the effect of unconscious interventions aimed at correcting cognitive biases on mental health. Cognitive bias correction has more therapeutic effect than group cognitive behavioral therapy, because the effectiveness of cognitive bias correction treatment is probably caused by changing the selective information processing pattern and interpretation biases in the tests, which are based on the models Cognitive are effective in creating and maintaining disorder. Cognitive bias correction method changes biases through more experimental and subtle methods (compared to verbal and more obvious psychotherapy processes).

Objective: in recent decades, new perceptions of beauty have been defined and beauty is defined as attractiveness and perfection. The aim of this study was to determine the fit of the structural model of the relationship between the tendency to cosmetic surgery with a negative body image and irrational beliefs mediated by cognitive emotion regulation in women applying for cosmetic surgery in Bushehr. Method: The present study was correlational and structural equation model study. The statistical population of this study is all women applicants for surgery who referred to beauty clinics in Bushehr in 2020. The sample size consists of 400 women who were selected by available random sampling method. Data collection tools were, tendency to cosmetic surgery (Etemadifar & Amani, 2013), Body image (Littleton, 2005), irrational beliefs (jones, 1969) and cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefski, 2001) questionnaires. Findings: The results showed that negative body image and irrational beliefs predicted the tendency to cosmetic surgery in women by mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation. Also, data analysis showed the appropriateness of the indicators and indicated a good and acceptable fitness for the hypothesized model. The findings of the structural model showed that the path of negative body image and irrational beliefs with cognitive emotion regulation is significant directly and with a tendency to cosmetic surgery mediated by cognitive emotion regulation. Conclusion: The results of this study can introduce a protocol for psychotherapists and counselors in providing specialized counseling to women seeking cosmetic surgery to correct irrational beliefs and cognitions and teach coping styles to reduce negative body image and irrational beliefs and increase cognitive emotion regulation.

Objective: The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between body image anxiety and obsessive beliefs with body management in applicant of cosmetic surgery. Method: The method of the present study is correlational and structural equation model type. The statistical population of this study included all applicants for cosmetic surgery referred to clinics and beauty hospitals in Mashhad, 2019. Samples were selected by available sampling method (212 people). Data were collected by using three BICI body image concern questionnaires, Yale-Brown's modified scale of obsessive-compulsive disorder for body dysfunction, and body management, and they were analyzed by structural equation modeling using LISREL and SPSS software. Findings: The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the variables of concern about body image and body management, respectively, were strong predictors of the possibility of cosmetic surgery. Also, data analysis shows the appropriateness of the indicators and indicated a good and acceptable fitness for the hypothesized model at a significant level. The findings of the structural model showed that the path of obsessive disorder variable is directly and significant related to concern of body image and is related to body management by mediating anxiety about body image. Conclusion: In order to improve body management in the cosmetic surgery applicants should pay more attention to the components of their body image concerns and obsessive beliefs.

Objective: The psychological variables are one of the important factors in people's tendency to cosmetic surgery. The current research has aimed at investigating the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulationstrategiesand defense mechanisms in the relationship between perfectionism and anxiety sensitivity in cosmetic surgery applicants students. Method: This study was a correlational study. The statistical populationincluded all undergraduate students of Payame Noor University of Rasht in the academic year 1397-98 who were seeking cosmetic surgery. The sample consisted of 335 people (308 female and 27 male) who were selected by available sampling method. Instruments used in this study included the positive and negative perfectionism scale (PNPS), anxiety sensitivity index (ASI), cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ) and defense style questionnaire (DSQ). Findings: Path analysis method showed that the anxiety sensitivity in cosmetic surgery applicants is influenced by perfectionism, cognitive emotion regulation and defense mechanisms. Also, cognitive emotion regulation and defense mechanisms played a mediating role in the relationship between perfectionism and anxiety sensitivity. To evaluate the model, CFI (0.91), NFI (0.93), GFI (0.94) and RMSEA (0.07) indices were used and the results indicated that the proposed model fits well with the data. Conclusion: In the formation of anxiety sensitivity, psychological factors such as perfectionism, cognitive emotion regulation, and defense mechanisms are involved. Therefore, the findings of this study have important implications for the rooting of psychological problems in these individuals.

Data collection tools included body image, body dysmorphic and fashion trends questionnaires. Data were analized by analyse of variance and logistic regression. Results: Findings showed that there is a significant difference between means of body image disorder (F= 19/95, p< 0/01), body dysmorphic disorder (F= 25/49, p< 0/01) and fashion trends (F= 7/82, p< 0/01) in two groups of cosmetic surgery applicants and non-applicants. Also, data indicated that body dysmorphic disorder (Exp (B) = 0/86, p < 0/01, wald = 39/81) is significantly predicted to the willingness or unwillingness to cosmetic surgery in individuals. Conclusion: individuals with abnormal body image, body dysmorphic and fashion trends to be seen in them more aptly to perform cosmetic surgery.
