Objective: Gender Identity Disorder (GID) or transsexualism is characterized by astrong and persistent sense of inappropriateness of biological sex in givenindividuals. Understanding, preventing and treating of this psychological disorderprovides a serious challenge for clinicians. In order to better understanding ofGIDs, the aim of the present study was to compare interpersonal problemsbetween three groups including transsexuals after sex reassignment surgery(SRS), transsexuals before SRS and normal individuals.Method: Thirty five Male-to-Female (MF) transsexuals (20 transsexuals before SRS,15 transsexuals after SRS) and also twenty normal females participated in thisstudy. All participants were asked to complete the Inventory of InterpersonalProblems (IIP-60).Results: The results revealed that the higher average scores in dimensions ofinterpersonal problems belonged to transsexuals before SRS, transsexuals afterSRS and normal individuals, respectively. The difference between transsexualsafter SRS and normal individuals was not significant in interpersonal problemsscales.Conclusion: Based on these results, one can conclude that sex reassignment surgerymight reduce interpersonal problems of transsexuals.

Objective: Result showed emotional intelligence can be consider as an obstacle infront of life's negative events like cancer. Therefore the role of coping process incancerous patients is so important for their health conditionMethod: The method of study is descriptive and correlation. approximately statisticcancer patients of Tehran is approximately 10000 to 12000, therefore, 400 patient(269 woman and 131man) recourse to therapeutic centers of Tehran includingImam Hossein Hospital and Dr. PayamAzadeh clinic were randomly selected andcompleted the Scuttle emotional intelligence inventory and coping style scales(CISS).Results: The result of t-test showed there is no significant deference betweenemotional intelligence and coping styles in man-woman and single- marital groupof cancerous patients. The result of Pearson correlation coefficient showed thereis positive relationship between emotional intelligence and its subscales and taskorientedcoping style. In addition there is positive relationship between emotionalintelligence and subscales and avoidance-oriented coping style.Conclusion: This data can be useful for creating and clinical approaches and withattention to important role of emotional intelligence and efficient coping stylesbecause of more healthy consequence and increase of patients resistance capacityin front of difficult conditions and better capability with designing andperformance of efficient learning programs it can be help strong then and supportthis elements.

Objective: Since attention of the elderly is progressing rapidly in developingcountries in recent years, special attention to wisdom as an effective ability isnecessary. The relationships between wisdom and mental health in Iranianelderly were examined in this study.Method: In a descriptive-analytic study, 114 older adults (61 males and 53 females)were selected by available sampling method and completed the Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale(3D-WS) and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ).Data was analyzed through descriptive statistics, correlation coefficients andregression analysis.Findings: Results confirmed significant relationship between components of wisdomand mental health in sample group.Conclusions: Results indicate that Wisdom is a reliable predictor for mental healthin elderly population. Among the three wisdom dimensions (cognitivedimension, Reflective dimension , affective dimension) were predictors ofgeneral health.

Objective: This research was conducted to assess the effectiveness of LEARN stressmanagement program on reduction of perceived stress and worry among femalestudents of Payame Noor University in Tehran.Method: For this reason, among volunteers who their scores in perceived stress scalewere one standard deviation more than average (M=27.26, SD=8.32) and so theywere realized stressful, twenty- six participants, regarding to exclude- includecriteria were selected and randomly assigned into two experimental and controlgroups. All participants filled out all of the items of perceived stress scale andPennsylvania state worry questionnaire prior to and after LEARN program toexperimental group.Results: Data analysis by using repeated measures method revealed that perceivedstress and worry significantly improved among participants of experimentalgroup in comparison to control group (pConclusion: Therefore, LEARN program by its components could affect the stresscycle in different aspects, and led to stress and worry reduction.

Objective: Unfortunately one of the diseases in the present century, which affects theyouths particularly the young girls and women, is the multiple sclerosis (MS).Given numerous numbers of MS patients and importance of identifying effectiveacts to promote their Mental Health, this study accomplished to review theassociation between the five factors of personality, Alexithymia and the MentalHealth of MS patients.Method: This descriptive study selected 218 MS patients with simple randomsampling method (157 females and 61 males). In Lorestan Province, Iran. Themeasurement tools were employed included: 1. Demographic Questionnaire; 2.the NEO Five-Factor Inventory- Revised (NEO-FFI-R) 3. the alexithymiaInventory, and 4. General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28). In this study,Multiple Regression Analysis and Pearson Correlation Test have been adaptedfor data analysis.Results: The results indicated that some variables such as neuroticism,conscientiousness, difficulty describing feelings and difficulty identifyingfeelings are significant predicators for Mental Health in those who suffered fromMS.Conclusion: These findings indicate that, personality and Alexithymia are almostinfluential factors on MS patients’ mental health. Findings also has importantimplications on the education and mental health’s improvment of MS patients.

Objective: Current study was conducted in order to investigate the relationship ofreligious orientation and death attitudes with quality of life and somatizationsymptoms in women.Method: Whole women, lived in Urmia in spring 2012, comprised statistical societyof this study. 140 women, who had been selected randomly by multistage clustersampling method, responded orderly to the questionnaires of religious orientation,attitudes toward death, quality of life and somatization symptoms .Collected datawere analyzed by Pearson correlation and regression tests.Results: The results showed that quality of life has a positive correlation with internalreligious orientation and the attitudes of approach acceptance toward death.Somatization symptoms also related positively to the attitudes of avoidance ofdeath and escape acceptance. Furthermore results of regression analyze showedthat 14 percent of women’s life quality variance was explained by internalreligious orientation and the attitudes of avoidance of death. Regression ofsomatization symptoms based on religious orientation and attitudes about deathwas not significant.Conclusion: This results reveal religious and spiritual bases and consequently thedeath attitudes as one of the effective variables on the women quality of life andtheir health.

Objective: The aim of article was to study the coping strategies and attachment stylesin individuals with gender identity disorder and without it.Method: The research was a causal-comparative study. The society of the studyincluded all individuals with or without Gender identity disorder in Tehran. 60individuals were selected through available sampling method, 30 individuals withsexual identity disorder and 30 individuals without it; which had been matched byage, educational and social levels. They were handed to fill the coping strategiesinventory of Carver, Scheier and Weintraub (1989) and Revised AdultAttachment Scale. In analysis of data analysis and t test are applied.Results: Results indicated that insecure attachment style is more common amongindividuals with gender identity disorder than others without it, and they useemotion focused coping strategies than others without it.Conclusion: According to the results, attachment styles affect adult relationships,mental health and coping strategies.
