Objective: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic and potentially debilitating disease that affects the central nervous system, which comprises the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. MS disrupts the flow of information within and between the brain and body, leading to a wide range of physical and cognitive symptoms. This condition is characterized by an abnormal immune response that targets myelin, the protective sheath surrounding nerve fibers, resulting in inflammation and damage. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between emotional adaptation and mindfulness with the mediation of cognitive emotion regulation in patients with MS. Method: The method of this research was descriptive and the research design was a correlation design. The statistical population of the present study consisted of all people with MS in Tehran in 2022. For this purpose, the Iranian MS Association was referred and 300 patients were selected through voluntary and accessible sampling. To collect research data, questionnaires on emotional adaptation (Rubio et al, 2007), mindfulness (Cardaciotto et al, 2008), and, cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefski & Kraaij, 2006) were used. A unified questionnaire comprising all the scales was prepared to conduct this research. Subsequently, in coordination with the Iranian MS Society, individuals were contacted. If they volunteered and were willing to participate in the study, they were asked to visit the MS Society or MS treatment centers in Tehran to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaires were distributed individually, and during the research implementation, necessary explanations regarding how to respond and the purpose of the research were provided to the patients. The research was conducted from September to December 2022. Additionally, to adhere to ethical considerations, patients were assured that the research data would be analyzed collectively. Ethical principles in writing the article were followed according to the guidelines of the National Ethics Committee and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) code of conduct. For data analysis in this research, descriptive statistical indices (mean, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis) and inferential statistical indices (Pearson correlation coefficient, path analysis) were used via SPSS and LISREL software version 24. Results: The results obtained from this research showed that the dimensions of mind-awareness (awareness focused on the present moment and acceptance) as exogenous variables of the research on the dimensions of emotional adaptation (lack of regulation of emotional and physiological arousals, hopelessness, and wishful thinking) have both direct and indirect effects (P<0.001). These effects underscore the complex interplay between present-moment awareness, acceptance, and the emotional processes in individuals with MS. The indirect effects were mediated through various pathways, indicating that mind awareness influences emotional adaptation directly and through its impact on other intermediate variables and coping mechanisms. Conclusion: What can be concluded from the present findings is the importance of training mindfulness skills in MS patients and improving cognitive skills in emotional regulation. According to the stress perceived by these people, the more a person focuses on desires and destructive thoughts loses focus on the present, and cannot accept his illness, the course and process of the disease will undoubtedly be faster. Future research should continue to explore the benefits of mindfulness and emotional regulation training in MS patients. Longitudinal studies could provide deeper insights into how these interventions impact disease progression and quality of life over time. Additionally, research could investigate the optimal methods for delivering mindfulness training to MS patients, considering factors such as disease severity, cognitive function, and individual preferences.

Objective: The present research was aimed to study the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy in cognitive emotion regulation and ego strength among cardiovascular patients with obesity.Method: The method was semi-experimental with pretest, posttest and 3-month follow-up with control group design. The statistical population included all cardiovascular patients with obesity in Tehran who referred to Shariati and Rajaei hospitals in 2019-2020. The sampling method was purposive method. Thirty patients were assigned in two groups randomly (15 patients in each group). The experimental group received emotion-focused intevention in 90-minute weekly sessions for eight weeks. The control group were in waitting list. To gather the data, the cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefsk and Kraaij., 2007) and the psychosocial inventory of ego strengths (Markstrom, et al., 1997) questionairs were implemented. The data were analyzed by SPSS-24 via analysis of variance with repeated measures. Results: Results showed that emotion-focused therapy was effective in increasing positive emotional cognitive regulation (p<0.001) and ego strength (p<0.001). The effectiveness of this treatment in negative emotional cognitive regulation was not significant (p>0.05). The interactive effect of time group for the components of hope (P = 0.170, h2 = 0.018), desire (h2=0.182, P = 0.012), goal (h2 = 0.207, P = 0.005), competence (h2=0.141, P=0.042), loyalty h2=0.296, P = 0.001, F = 6.95), love (h2=0.317, P=0.001), care (h2=0.274, P=0.001) and wisdom (h2=0.190, P=0.011) are significant. The results of the Ben Feroni test comparing the effect of time showed that the difference in the average scores of the eight components of my strength in the pre-test-post-test and pre-test-follow-up stages is statistically significant, but the difference in the average scores in the post-test-follow-up stages is not significant. Conclusion: According to the findings, it could be said that emotion-focused therapy was a reliable and a stable method in order to improving the psychological conditions of cardiovascular patients, especially ego strength and positive emotional cognitive regulation. In explaining the effectiveness of emotion-oriented therapy in increasing the strength of cardiovascular patients with obesity, it can be said that emotion-oriented therapy is by processing emotional experiences to cardiovascular patients in regulating their emotional functions and in this way achieve more consistent emotional responses that increase resilience and strength. Achieving adaptive emotional responses by modulating emotional responses and coping with disempowering maladaptive emotions increases my resilience in these individuals.

Objective: in recent decades, new perceptions of beauty have been defined and beauty is defined as attractiveness and perfection. The aim of this study was to determine the fit of the structural model of the relationship between the tendency to cosmetic surgery with a negative body image and irrational beliefs mediated by cognitive emotion regulation in women applying for cosmetic surgery in Bushehr. Method: The present study was correlational and structural equation model study. The statistical population of this study is all women applicants for surgery who referred to beauty clinics in Bushehr in 2020. The sample size consists of 400 women who were selected by available random sampling method. Data collection tools were, tendency to cosmetic surgery (Etemadifar & Amani, 2013), Body image (Littleton, 2005), irrational beliefs (jones, 1969) and cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefski, 2001) questionnaires. Findings: The results showed that negative body image and irrational beliefs predicted the tendency to cosmetic surgery in women by mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation. Also, data analysis showed the appropriateness of the indicators and indicated a good and acceptable fitness for the hypothesized model. The findings of the structural model showed that the path of negative body image and irrational beliefs with cognitive emotion regulation is significant directly and with a tendency to cosmetic surgery mediated by cognitive emotion regulation. Conclusion: The results of this study can introduce a protocol for psychotherapists and counselors in providing specialized counseling to women seeking cosmetic surgery to correct irrational beliefs and cognitions and teach coping styles to reduce negative body image and irrational beliefs and increase cognitive emotion regulation.
