Objective: The role of psychological therapies and interventions in chronic diseases such as diabetes has been confirmed, so the aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of compassion-based therapy and treatment based on acceptance and commitment to cravings. The quality of life and psychological distress of patients with type 2 diabetes was Tonekabon. Method: This study was an experimental study with purposive sampling method And the statistical population was diabetic patients of Tonekabon city hospital who 200 people were selected as a sample and after performing the dependent variable test, people who had different standard deviation with others were selected, whose number was 100 people and 45 people were randomly selected. They were selected and divided into three groups of 15, two intervention groups and a control group. Focused on compassion and 12 sessions of act therapy (session 45 minutes). Sessions For each intervention, two sessions were performed weekly with an interval of 3 days. End of treatment All three groups were post-tested. Findings: The differences between the means of the two groups in craving, quality of life and psychological distress were (7-264), (7.054) and (7-914), respectively, which showed that people who were affected by acceptance and commitment treatment compared to those who They were treated with compassion-focused treatment, showing greater effectiveness in the extent of each of the variables mentioned in the post-test. Conclusion: The results showed a decreasing trend of craving, psychological distress and increasing the quality of life in the follow-up and effectiveness of both approaches and the superiority of the act approach. Therefore, this treatment can be used in different situations to improve life.

Objective: Today, substance abuse has become one of the major problems in societies and has become more prevalent among young people.The aim of this study is to appointment of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) effectiveness in reduction of craving and lapse in methamphetamine addict patients. Method: In this study had been used single-case experimental design in kind of multiple-baseline design in asynchronous manner. Three of male methamphetamine addict patients choose that had come to Welfare Organization and to the Addiction Withdrawal Center in Takab Township by diagnostic interview and structured clinical interview and with purposeful sampling method. The study tools had been used such as Structured Clinical interview (SCID), demographic characteristic questionnaire, urine test, Relapse Prediction Scale (RPS) and Individual Therapy Protocol (ACT).the achieved results considered by methods of visual inspection, reliable change index (RCI), change percentage formula, clinical significance change and operational measurement. Findings: Achieved data showed that acceptance and commitment therapy in treatment's targets intensity reduction (craving and lapse) statistically is in level of (P<0.05), clinically and significance operational measurement. Conclusion: Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is effective in intensity reduction of craving and lapse in methamphetamine addict patients. Given that the therapeutic approach increases psychological flexibility in patients, it can be used to treat methamphetamine dependence.

Objective:The present study examined the effect of Logotherapy in relapse prevention and craving in females with substance dependency.Method: In a semi-experimental study, 30 women with the diagnosis of substance dependency who successfully detoxified in Tehran therapeutic community of women Center were divided into two experimental group (12 subjects) and control group (13subjects) selected convenience sampling method. The experimental group received 8 sessions of Logotherapy, each session in a week, while the control group did not receive any training at the same time. All subjects were assessed through Gorsciʼs (1987) relapse prevention scale and Franken and colleagesʼ (2002) craving reduction scale and morphine test before treatment, randomly during the treatment, after treatment and after 3 months follow up. Data were analyzed via repeated measures ANOVA.Results: Results of multivariate and univariate covariance analysis showed that there is a significant difference between experimental and control groups in relapse prevention and craving in the post and follow up tests. Study results also showed that there is a significant difference between two groups regard to relapse. Conclusion:The results indicated that Logotherapy is effective in relapse prevention and craving reduction in females with substance dependency.
